Trail Maintenance Volunteer
Description: We’re looking for a skilled and hard-working trail maintenance volunteer to add to our team. In this position, you will help us ensure Be Still Retreat trails are safe, accessible, and well-maintained for guest use.
Hours: Flexible, approximately 4-6 hours per week.
Location: All hours will be performed at Be Still Retreats: N6789 3rd Avenue, Plainfield.
Responsibilities May Include (but are not limited to):
- Clear fallen trees and debris, removing invasive species, repairing trail surfaces (e.g., grading, resurfacing), and controlling erosion.
- Install and maintain trail signs, markers, and barriers.
- Prune vegetation, controlling weeds, and managing other aspects of trailside plants.
- Ensure proper drainage to prevent erosion and trail damage.
- Identify and address potential hazards on the trail.
- Assist with habitat management and other conservation-related tasks.
- Use tools like chainsaws, mowers, and other power and hand tools.
- Assist guests with trail-related questions and concerns.
- Keep your volunteer time and submit to Be Still staff monthly.
